Princess Catharina-Amalia of the Netherlands Brought Spring Outfit Inspiration in a Blazer and Penny Loafers

It’s an important time of year for royal fashion lovers. As the temperatures rise, the nobility shed their winter wear and give us fashion fans some new styles to get excited about. Case in point: Princess Catharina-Amalia of the Netherlands, who provided a template for a put-together yet un-fussy spring style in Amsterdam over the weekend.

The eldest daughter of King Willem-Alexander and Queen Maxima and heir to the throne paid an official two-day visit to Amsterdam, participating in events in and around the city, including tour of a police station in the city centre of Amsterdam-Noord.

For the meeting, Amalia found a balance between relaxed style and polish with a classic-with-a-twist ensemble of an oversized Toteme camel blazer over a simple white top, wide leg jeans, and a surprisingly affordable pair of penny loafers from Zara.

Clearly the princess has an affinity for the brand, as the loafers were her second Zara accessory of the day. Earlier in the afternoon, pre-outfit exchange, Amalia carried a black clutch by the brand embellished with a sculptural gold swoop handle. She paired the piece with a navy ensemble of wide, barrel-leg trousers and a long-sleeved, V-neck Nigella bodysuit by Max Mara.

She wore the look while taking in the city’s famous canals, exploring local arts as part of the public art exhibition, the Warmoes Biennial, and visiting the ADAMAS studio to talk to experts and members of the community about at-risk youth.

The 22-year-old princess began a bachelor’s program in Dutch law at the University of Amsterdam last year, and is currently participating in a two-year part-time military work and study program at Defensity College.
